3 Must-Try Foodie Finds In Durham

I was driving through Ajax last week on my way back from showing a beautiful, but sadly too-small home to my clients when I realized that it was 2:30 in the afternoon & I hadn't eaten yet - like at all! 3 large coffees, yes, but actual food, sadly, no. Happens all the time...

So I was running through the drive thru options in my mind when I remembered a colleague posted several months ago about this incredible grilled cheese sandwich he had at a little cheese shop in Ajax....

289 Kingston Rd E, just east of Salem Rd.
And incredible it was!

Smokey Applewood Cheddar with Red Onion Marmalade
on Country White Bread...my mouth is watering as I re-live the experience!

Pick your poison!
There's definitely more to this place than just grilled cheese! Fresh cheese curds from Woodstock, Ontario on Fridays & Saturdays (until they're sold out!) and a delicious assortment of artisan cheeses from across Canada and abroad as well as all kinds of delicious gourmet accompaniments...there are even some dessert offerings!

Country Cheese Company posts great recipes on their Facebook page plus you can find more information on their website as well...better yet, stop in & check them out in person! (And if you order a sandwich, let me know what you get!)

Back to the story...As I was driving home I started thinking about other great food places here in Durham, places that offered something a little "different" and so a blog post was born...

There are two things that are "different" about this next one, located in lovely, historic, downtown Bowmanville. Voted "Best Pizza in Clarington 2014" by Clarington This Week readers, I offer you Jr's Handmade Sourdough Pizza!

Food truck + Sourdough crust + Fresh locally-sourced toppings = Awesome! And they deliver!

The Meat Lovers! Truck is permanently parked at 181 King St E in Bowmanville
You can also stop by for a slice (which is really 2 slices!) & a drink for just $5 bucks! Or pick up one of Jr's Picks - my fave is the Meat Lovers! If I'm building my own then it's Sausage, Mushroom & Carmelized Onions all the way! :)

Check out their Facebook page for updates & special offers or visit their website for more detailed information. What could be better than getting delicious homemade food & supporting family-run small businesses? Can't think of a thing! :) Congrats to Victor & Jade on their 1yr anniversary in business, later this month!

Last but not least is a great little hole-in-the-wall in Oshawa for all-day breakfast...and by all-day, they mean daily until 3pm, lol! :) It's not much to look at, neither inside nor out, but the food is delicious, the portions are huge & the menu offers a huge selection of breakfast items that you just don't see anywhere else...at least not somewhere that I'm aware of. You can find them on the web HERE - no Facebook, sorry!

633 King St E - Daily from 7am-3pm

Fresh squeezed orange juice, mango banana juice & a chocolate milk...'cause he's a rebel like that! ;)
Belgian waffle with berries, whipped cream & English cream
The Super breakfast! Those are crepes up in the top right hand corner of the plate! Yum! :)
Love their mushroom & swiss omelette!
So there you have it! If you're looking for something a little different then you should give one of these places a try! If you do, come back & post a comment to let me know what you thought of it! If you have your own foodie find then post that too, I promise to check it out!

Until then, it seems à propos to leave you with this hilarious YouTube video called "Eat It Don't Tweet It" (Instagram Food Porn Anthem)...Enjoy! ;)

Have a fabulous day!
